The high-level walkways offer stunning views of London across the Thames, while the bridge remains an important thoroughfare for traffic in central London.

The bridge is of course a premier attraction in its own right, while it takes its name from the nearby Tower of London.

Much of Tower Bridge's fame can probably be attributed to its impressive structure, it is the grandest of all the Thames crossings and its domineering presence on the London skyline, particularly at night, renders it impossible to ignore.

In 2003, the bridge was used for a publicity stunt by the notorious 'Fathers 4 Justice' group, when campaigner David Crick scaled the tower crane near the bridge and caused widespread traffic delays for five days.
